A week ago, the Donald Trump-Elon Musk feud played out across the headlines and social media, yet now, any evidence of a fight is hard to find. A significant reason for that is due to events in riot-torn Los Angeles, as California Governor Gavin Newsom has sued the federal government for deploying National Guard troops in his state to protect federal property. As the Trump-Newsom fight now takes center stage, who is in the right when it comes to deploying National Guardsmen in the City of Angels? WOR White House Jon Decker appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to explain why Newsom has replaced Musk in Trump’s Truth Social crosshairs.
Decker, who is also a Constitutional attorney, reminded host Larry Mendte why Newsom may not have a case at all: “The Executive branch is in charge of immigration policy; it is not individual states, and although the reason that Gavin Newson cited for bringing this lawsuit- he believes that the state sovereignty of California was impeded upon- when you’re talking about something like enforcing the nation’s immigration laws, that rests with the Presidency. That rests with President Trump, and I think that Gavin Newsom is going to lose this case.”
Decker also expanded on how Trump himself may have redirected the conversation in the Twitter-verse: “As soon as the President activated and deployed (the National Guard), people were not talking about Elon Musk that often or that much. I think that’s one of the great skills of President Trump; he knows how to change very quickly what it is that the news cycle is talking about and following.”
