If you saw “GROAT (Greatest Roast Of All Time): Tom Brady” on Netflix- and you have finally caught your breath from all the laughing- chances are you were impressed by the comedic chops of emcee Jeff Ross, aka “The Roastmaster General”. The Emmy-nominated Ross is looking for a new smash hit, and he thinks he has found it in an old forum- the Broadway stage. Ross hopes to bring his one-man show, which he is calling “Take a Banana for the Ride,” to a Broadway venue sometime this fall. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to explain his inspiration for the show and as a comedian in general.

“That’s the whole fun of it. Try something new, jump in, it’s the best,” Ross told host Larry Mendte. “It’s my first time doing a one-person solo show, kind of in the vein of Billy Crystal’s ‘700 Sundays’ or the old Jackie Mason shows on Broadway. I always wanted to do a show like that about my family, about how I became the Roastmaster, and then at the end I bring people up and I roast them on stage, and I have musicians. It’s a wild, full-on night out.”

Ross will be working out material he hopes to use in the show on his comedy tour this summer. “I need feedback, so before I get to Broadway, hopefully this year, hopefully by the fall, I’ll have worked it out at a bunch of the Hard Rocks across the country… yeah, it’s an adventure. It’s definitely a departure for me and I know my fans will enjoy it, and I hope new people kind of jump in, too.”

The tour hits the Atlantic City Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Friday July 18th and Saturday July 19th. Tickets and information for all tour dates are available at www.roastmastergeneral.com.
