Many people have wished they could have been in the room when President Donald Trump and Governor Kathy Hochul met in the White House last week. When pressed on details about the meeting, however, Hochul has mostly reiterated only two talking points: the congestion pricing cameras are staying on past this Friday’s deadline, and she has a plan for a new Penn Station that just needs federal funding. Hochul has said she intends to show Trump the plans when they next meet, but will the travel hub be front-and-center on anybody’s mind other than Hochul’s at that point?
Not likely, says New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (R-19TH). The outspoken Paladino appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to say Hochul has to remember with whom she is speaking before she enters the room next time.
“Man, oh man, this woman thinks she’s going to get her cake and eat it, too,” Paladino declared to host Larry Mendte. “No, that’s not how this works. It’s a give-and-take, Governor Hochul, and guess what? Trump isn’t going to give you an inch, and her big playing card here is Penn Station. So, you think you’re going to go down to Washington and you’re going to tell the President, especially this President, exactly what you want, and you’re not going to give an inch or two- no, that’s not how this game is played. She’s going to be sorry.”
When pressed on whether Hochul understands what she needs to do to make her Penn Station dream a reality, Paladino laughed before answering: “She’s either going to do what she needs to do, and she could strut her stuff all she wants, but I’ve got news for you- Trump will have the last laugh, and this is not what I want to see happen. We love, New York, right?... Let’s remember, she’s from Buffalo. She lives upstate, and she has nothing to do and has no clue what makes this city go tick-tock.”
