With all of his cabinet choices receiving approval by the U.S. Senate, President Trump can officially start to hammer out the bulk of his agenda. One of the key reasons for the swift approval of his entire slate of appointments may have been the behind-the-scenes work of Vice President J.D. Vance. In a move that would indicate why Trump saw talent in his number two, Vance did a lot of heavy- lifting to grease the skids for controversial picks like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kash Patel. Reagan Reese is the White House correspondent for the Daily Caller. Reese says that Vance earned his street cred within the Trump Administration almost as soon as the celebrations wound down on election night.
Reese told host Larry Mendte that Vance may have been at it as soon as he woke up the day after the election: “It began as soon as they were elected into office, so from November to January, before he was ever sworn in, J.D. Vance was kind of working the phones, working his connections within the Senate, priming the senators for the President’s cabinet picks… A couple of senators did admit this, that J.D. Vance spoke to them, that that was kind of what helped them come to the decision that they would be voting yes, and so, if we look at why President Trump has these cabinet positions confirmed, I think a lot of credit goes to J.D. Vance because of his work.”
Reese also mentioned that another one of Trump’s cabinet picks, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, hinted that he may re-organize who gives the Secret Service its marching orders. “He really feels like a big part of Treasury is national security, and that, in order to really secure the nation, they need the Secret Service under the Department of the Treasury. This is something that they talked about in the first term. This is more of a long-term goal, but it’s definitely on the radar and something that the Trump team is considering.”
