Concha: Biden's "Good Of The Country" Is Really A Democrat "Do-Over"

President Biden ended weeks of speculation by announcing on Sunday that he will decline his re-election bid. That now throws open the race to see who represents the Democrats in the 2024 election with less than a month to go until the convention in Chicago.

The news of Biden’s withdrawal came in a written statement on X while Biden, who is convalescing in Delaware with Covid, has not been seen since Wednesday. Fox news contributor Joe Concha is among the voices saying Biden owes the country more than just a tweet as he turns down the most important job in the world. Speaking on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program, Concha says the country has the right to hear the words directly from the big man himself.

“The only thing I’m concerned about now is where is the President,” Concha told Berman and Riedel. “I mean, you make an announcement like that- we haven’t seen anything like this since Lyndon Baines Johnson in March of 1968- you kind of have to go in front of a camera and maybe answer some questions around why are you leaving, exactly. It can’t just be, ‘Well, because I want to save democracy and I’m doing this for the good of the country.’ Do you have a physical problem? Do you have a mental issue that we should know about?... Yeah, he can talk in front of a camera; Kamala Harris should get in front of some microphones as well and talk about what she wants to do for the country. I’m just concerned about who’s running the country right now.”

Concha is also not sold on the idea that Biden wanted to leave in the first place. “Joe Biden reportedly went out kicking and screaming here. He did not want to go until they said, ‘Look all the donor money is gonna dry up and we’re telling you, you have to leave- and oh, by the way, you can’t win.’ This is not about doing the best thing for the country. This is because Democrats saw the scoreboard, saw they’re down basically three touchdowns going into the fourth quarter. They know they can’t win, so they want a do-over. They want to replace Joe Biden with somebody who will probably do worse.”
