Governor Hochul Remains Committed To Congestion Pricing

Just days after slamming the brakes on congestion pricing, Governor Kathy Hochul says she still remains "committed" to it.

But with the start date indefinitely postponed, she's also looking for alternate funding methods to help the MTA made needed improvements and upgrades. The agency had been counting on $1 billion in annual revenue from the toll which would have charged drivers $15 to travel south of 60th Street. The MTA said it's now reviewing its capital program while continuing to focus on how to keep riders safe.

"For New Yorkers, mass transit is like air and water. We need it to survive," MTA Chair Janno Lieber said.
