Aaron Rodgers was injured just minutes into his first game with the Jets and is expected to miss the entire season.
“Concerned with his Achilles. The MRI’s probably going to confirm what we think is already going to happen. So prayers tonight, but it’s not good,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said.
Rodgers was hurt on his fourth snap of the game when he was hit by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. He was carted off the field without completing a pass.
“That part sucks,” Saleh said.
It came after an emotional introduction before the game where he ran onto the field holding an American flag on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Rodgers was traded to the Jets during the offseason after spending his entire career with the Green Bay Packers.
Despite the injury, the Jets managed to beat the Buffalo Bills 22 to 16 in overtime. Xavier Gipson returned a punt 65 yards for the winning score.
