The 2026 World Cup is coming to New York City and New Jersey and local officials think MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands should host the final.
Mayor Adams and Governor Murphy gathered with other officials in Times Square on Thursday to unveil the official New York, New Jersey World Cup brand. They said the area expects to host at least eight games.
“That's eight Super Bowls in six weeks, just extraordinary. And every single ticket will be sold out, I guarantee it no matter who's playing,” Governor Murphy said.
It’s unclear which city will host the final. Los Angeles is also expected to make a big push for the game.
“This launch is only the beginning, 'cause it's going to be dynamic, it's going to be exciting, and for the next few years as we prepare to host in 2026,” Michael Strahan said.
