Mourners are remembering Jordan Neely, the subway performer who died after being subdued on a train earlier this month.
Witnesses claim Neely was acting erratically on the “F” train back on May 1st, causing former marine Daniel Penny to place him in an apparent chokehold. Neely lost consciousness and was later pronounced dead at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Neely’s death was ruled a homicide and Penny was charged one week ago with second-degree manslaughter. Penny’s attorney says his client was protecting himself and others on the train.
A funeral service for Neely is taking place on Friday at the Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem. The Reverend Al Sharpton is delivering the eulogy.
