Mayor Adams Suspends NYC Shelter Law As Migrant Crisis Worsens

Ahead of the expiration of Title 42, Mayor Adams has signed an executive order that will suspend a shelter law in the city.

The law requires that migrants be quickly placed in shelters. But with the shelter system nearing capacity, suspending the law will allow the city to house migrants in group settings like gyms.

Title 42 expires at midnight on Thursday and many believe that will cause a flood of migrants pouring across the border. Many of them could be sent or find their way to New York City.
