Torrential Rain Leads To Widespread Flooding In Tri-State Area

The big cleanup is underway throughout the tri-state area, after five inches of rain fell over the weekend.

That caused widespread flooding issues that left some drivers stranded on roads like the Long Island Expressway and the Cross Island Parkway. Some people in low-lying parts of Queen say the damage was as bad as during Hurricane Ida a couple years ago.

Two teenagers also had to be rescued after apparently wandering into an abandoned rail tunnel in Edgewater. After walking in they realized the water had become too deep in both directions and they had to sit on a pipe for about two hours until firefighters came for them in a rescue boat.
