New Yorkers dressed in green lined Fifth Avenue on Friday to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Many are viewing this as a post-pandemic party, after the 2020 parade became the first major event to be canceled by the city because of Covid. This is the 262nd parade.
“I'm going to be here to raise and celebrate the greatness of the Irish community and all of our community,” Mayor Eric Adams said.
The Archdiocese of New York has also granted a special dispensation that will allow Catholics to eat corned beef, even though St. Patrick's Day is falling on a Friday during Lent.
New Yorkers are being told to find a designated driver if they’re celebrating. Police will be out in full force performing DWI checks.
