LIRR Increases Service To Penn Station Following Two Weeks Of Problems

The Long Island Railroad is hoping to ease overcrowding issues by adding more trains to Penn Station.

Since the Grand Central Madison terminal opened two weeks ago, commuters have complained that the trains are packed and Jamaica Station is overcrowded. They complain there have also been delays and confusion.

The LIRR admits it overestimated the number of people who would want to go to Grand Central, creating a shortage of trains going to Penn Station. The railroad says beginning Monday, more trains will again be going to Penn Station and many commuters won’t have to stop at Jamaica Station.
