More Long Island Railroad trains will be running this week, after big problems during the first week of full service to the new Grand Central Madison terminal.
Customers complained about packed trains and overcrowding at the stations. There were also train delays, the commute took longer for some and there was confusion at the new terminal.
“It’s a mess,” one commuter complained to WOR’s Alice Stockton-Rossini.
The MTA said the problem was that it didn’t know how many commuters wanted to go to Grand Central Madison and how many wanted to continue going to Penn Station. It said the question was made more challenging because the hybrid work schedule means the number of commuters changes on a daily basis.
