Grand Central Madison Problems Continue, Governor Hochul Promises Changes

Chaos and confusion continues for Long Islanders, following the opening of the Grand Central Madison terminal earlier this week.

There’s been overcrowding on trains, not enough service is going to Penn Station and riders say they’re often unsure about the train schedule. Some say their commute has even gotten longer, despite claims by MTA and state officials that the commute would be quicker and easier.

“This is a temporary situation. Any new dramatic change like this, the first train station opened in over 100 years, it’s going to take a little bit. But it’s very temporary,” Governor Hochul said.

Some minor changes were being made on Friday and bigger alterations are expected next week. MTA officials said the problem is they’re not sure yet how many commuters need to go to Grand Central Madison and how many are going to Penn Station.
