State Trooper Shot In Paterson, New Jersey

A state trooper is recovering after he was shot early Thursday morning in Paterson, New Jersey.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, but the trooper was struck in the leg on 28th Street and Ninth Avenue. The trooper was taken to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and underwent surgery. He is said to be in great spirits and is surrounded by his family.

“We will ensure that all those responsible for this violent and heinous act are caught and brought to justice,” Governor Phil Murphy said in a statement.

One suspect was taken into custody and authorities were reportedly looking for two others.
