Subway Reaches New Post-Pandemic High In Ridership

Governor Kathy Hochul says the subway system carried 3.76 million riders on Tuesday, marking a new high in ridership since the start of the pandemic.

"Our record-breaking ridership numbers are proving what we already know: New York is back and better than ever,” Hochul said.

Metro North also carried 188,000 riders on Tuesday. That topped the previous record of 181,600 rides on September 14th.

"New Yorkers are returning to mass transit because they know that this is the fastest, safest, most convenient way to get around New York City and across the state, and these numbers are a great indicator that New York is back on track,” Hochul said.
