Governor Murphy Talks Teacher Shortage At White House

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will be at the White House on Wednesday, talking about the national teacher shortage.

He’s expected to meet with First Lady Jill Biden and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona in his capacity as chairman of the National Governors Association.

This comes after Murphy on Tuesday announced a $6.5 million investment in a statewide school security initiative. It will digitize school building blueprints and make them available to first responders.

“With the epidemic of gun violence reaching every part of our communities, including our schools, we offer our families not empty promises, but concrete investments in tools and resources that will keep our students safe,” Governor Murphy said.
