Worker Shortage Causes Problems For Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry was forced to significantly scale back service on Thursday because of a worker shortage.

Ferries were leaving once an hour, compared to every 15 or 20 minutes on a typical weekday morning, because not enough workers were available. Reduce service was expected to continue throughout Thursday. Service also had to be completely suspended overnight.

NYC Ferry and MTA buses were providing additional transportation for a time to help ease the problem.
