NYC Speed Cameras Turned On 24/7

Beginning on Monday, 2,000 speed cameras in New York City will be operating around-the-clock.

Previously, the cameras were only turned on between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. However, stats show that many traffic deaths happened during overnight hours and on the weekends when the cameras were off.

The speed limit is 25 m.p.h. in most of the city. Those caught speeding will receive a $50 ticket in the mail.

Department of Transportation statistics show that speeding is down 72 percent in areas that have speed cameras.
