Governor Hochul Increases Shark Patrols On Long Island

After a series of shark attacks and sightings on Long Island, Governor Kathy Hochul has announced increased surveillance at the beaches.

It will include drone and helicopter monitoring and additional boats in the water to look out for sharks. There will also be additional staffing of lifeguards.

"We are taking action to expand patrols for sharks and protect beachgoers from potentially dangerous situations,” Governor Hochul said.

Last week two men were bitten in a single day. There were additional sightings the following day.
