Gas prices are up another 25 cents in the past week, increasing to a national average of $4.86 per gallon.
Triple A reports this is the highest average price ever recorded. It’s also $1.81 more expensive than drivers were paying one year ago.
New Jersey has the highest gas prices in the tri-state area with an average of $4.98. New York’s average is $4.88 after suspending the state’s 16-cent gas tax for the remainder of the year. Drivers in Connecticut are paying an average of $4.89.
California has the highest prices in the country at $6.34.
