Governor Hochul on Monday will sign a series of measures to strengthen New York's gun control laws.
One of the measures raises the age to buy a semi-automatic rifle to 21-years-old. They will also be required to have a license.
“This comprehensive package will close loopholes, give law enforcement the tools they need to prevent easy access to guns, and stop the sale of dangerous weapons to 18-year-olds,” Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement.
Another measure will outlaw the sale of body armor, except to people in some professions.
The action comes after recent mass shootings in Buffalo and Texas.
