Senator Chuck Schumer says it’s time for the MTA to resume around-the-clock subway service.
“The city that never sleeps has a name we have to live up to everywhere including within our subway service,” Schumer said.
The subways remain closed from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. for cleaning. They haven’t run 24 hours a day since the start of the pandemic. But now that the city is beginning to reopen, Schumer said it’s time for that to change.
“If you shut down a subway, you shut down a part of our city and we can restore it and should restore it now,” Schumer said.
