Mayor Bill de Blasio says he expects Governor Andrew Cuomo to impose new restrictions on New York City in the next week or two.
Cuomo could declare all of the city an orange zone. That would mean closing gyms and salons, as well as an end to indoor dining.
“I'm sorry to tell you that for the sake of those business owners and everyone who loves those gyms and loves indoor dining, it's just a matter of time,” de Blasio said.
The mayor issued the warning on the same day that schools were closed because the city’s positivity rate hit 3 percent. De Blasio said he’ll announce a road map in the next few days for how the schools will reopen.
“I am absolutely convinced we can work with all the stakeholders, work with the state, get to new tough standards and reopen,” de Blasio said.
