Elementary students are headed back to the classroom on Tuesday for the first time in six months.
In-person learning begins at K through 5 and K through 8 schools, despite the principals union voting “no confidence” in Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza. Middle and high schools are scheduled to begin in-person learning on Thursday.
Schools are reopening despite an increasing positivity rate in New York City. It’s moving closer to 2 percent, with Mayor de Blasio saying schools will close if it reaches 3 percent.
