NYC New Year’s Eve Ball Drop WIll Go Virtual

No one will be allowed into Times Square on New Year's Eve to watch the ball drop this year.

It's another casualty of the ongoing pandemic in New York City. Organizers of the annual event are planning a virtually enhanced celebration that everyone can take part in. The Times Square Alliance says a very small group of in-person honorees, who are social distanced will be the only ones to witness the ball drop in person.

We do know that the night will honor essential workers and others who have made a difference in 2020.

The alliance says more details about the virtual event will be released as December 31st gets closer.
