NYC Is Stepping Up Police Patrols To Counter Gun Violence Surge

It was another weekend of gun violence in New York City.

The NYPD will be adding more officers on the weekends as weekend gun violence continues to surge in the Big Apple. Officials say eight people were killed in city violence between Friday and early Sunday. The NYPD reports that 44-percent of shootings in the city in the last month have happened on Saturdays and Sundays.

A 25-year-old mother of three was among the victims in this weekend's violence, gunned down near an elementary school in the Bronx.
