Some are upset after a video surfaced on social media showing plainclothes police officers arrested a protester in Manhattan on Tuesday night.
The protester, identified as 18-year-old Nikki Stone, is seen being grabbed and thrown into the back of an unmarked police van. Stone was later released on a desk appearance ticket.
"There's no need for them to be so rough with them," one man told WOR's Alice Stockton-Rossini. "It was bad."
The NYPD defended the arrest, saying Stone was wanted for damaging police cameras near City Hall Park. They also said that officers were assaulted with rocks and bottles.
Despite that, some New Yorkers said police shouldn't use so much force.
"Yeah, definitely violent," one woman said.
