New York City Dealing With First Case of Coronavirus

The coronavirus has come to New York City.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said a woman in her late 30’s contracted the virus while traveling in Iran.

“The patient has respiratory symptoms, but is not in serious condition and has been in a controlled situation since arriving to New York,” Governor Cuomo said in a statement.

He said patient has been in a controlled situation since arriving back in New York.Cuomo added that this was expected and “there is no reason for undue anxiety,” adding that the risk remains low in New York.

“Our disease detectives have already identified close contacts of the patient, who may have been exposed, and will take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
