A Belgian Shepard was shot and killed in Brooklyn Monday night when the "unleashed and aggressive canine," startled an off-duty Secret Service agent.
According to a story posted to the gothamist.com, the dog's owners were walking the unleashed dog in Windsor Terrace last night at 9:45 when the dog bolted off and allegedly charged at the Secret Service Agent causing him to fire his handgun.
A witness to the incident said he heard one gunshot and then heard the dog's owner yell, "I can't f---ing believe you let the gun go off."
A statement issued by the Secret Service that said, "An off duty Secret Service employee was involved in the shooting of an unleashed dog in Brooklyn, NY, this evening. As this is an ongoing NYPD investigation, the Secret Service will not have further comment."
