Man Agrees To Plea Deal After Accidentally Shooting His Wife

Eric Rosenbrock was sentenced to five years probation for accidentally killing his wife with a handgun while cleaning it for a hunting trip.

The Upstate teacher agreed to a plea deal that saw him charged with negligent homicide for killing his 36-year-old wife Ashley Rosenbrock last September.

According to a story published in the New York Post, Saratoga County Judge James Murphy, "No punishment I can impose can ever bring Ashley back to be the mother, wife and daughter that she was."

Ashley's parents say the Rosenbrock's were high school sweethearts who had been married for 11 years when the accident occurred. They have three children aged 2, 5 and 10.

Ashley's mother read a victim's impact statement to the courtroom stating that she is suffering from "overwhelming sadness," but does not blame her son-in-law for the "accident."
