Speed Boat Crash Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

The Southold Detective Division is investigating a boating accident that left one person dead, and three others injured after a boat carrying them slammed into a seawall in the waters off Long Island.

Kelley Blanchard of Riverhead, Long Island was pronounced dead after responders rushed her to the Peconic Bay Medical Center.

The three other passengers, Frank DiStefano, Nick Soullas and Megan Blanchard, the sister of the deceased, were all airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and are reportedly in serious condition.

Maryse Bransfield, who worked with the Blanchard sisters at a pizzeria, told the New York Post, "I love those girls. Right now I don't know if Megan will survive the loss of her little sister. They love each other so much, so close. Extremely close. One wouldn't go anywhere without the other. If one quit a job, the other would have to quit."

Frank DiStefano was charged with driving a boat while intoxicated.
