Small Plane Crashes Into Residual Area In Suburban Maryland

Firefighters in central New Jersey were battling fires in at least two homes after a small plane crashed in a three-lined residential area late Tuesday morning.

The downed craft was described as a Cessna 414. It reportedly crashed into a Colonia, New Jersey, home on Berkley Avenue at approximately 11 a.m., according to the FAA.

NBC News reported that federal officials were on the scene, investigating the crash.

As of the initial reports regarding the crash, it was unclear how many people were injured. The crash prompted a mutual aid response.

John E. McCormac, the mayor of nearby Woodbridge Township, said no civilians were hurt and that only the pilot was aboard the plane.

At least one of the homes affected was completely engulfed in flames, residents told NBC.
