Injured NYPD Officer Released From Hospital

New York City Police Officer Lesly Lafontant has been released from the hospital after being injured at a Brooklyn nail salon on Friday.

Officers were trying to arrest someone at the Brownsville shop for urinating on the floor when Lafontant was struck in the head with a metal chair. The suspect, Kwesi Ashun, was fatally shot by police.

Lafontant was placed into a medically induced coma but was able to leave the hospital on Monday.

Family members of Ashun are calling for an investigation into the shooting.
