Port Authority Votes On Toll And Fare Hikes

The Port Authority is expected to approve a plan today that would increase tolls at its six bridges and tunnels.

Under the proposal, the cash toll would increase from $15 to $16. The cost for drivers using E-Z Pass would jump from $12.50 to $13.75 during peak hours.

The increase would impact the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridge.

The plan also calls for the multi-trip discount on PATH trains to be reduced. There would also be a new $4 fee on some pickups and drop-offs for taxis and for-hire vehicles at the airports.
