Queens Woman Ejected From Her Car, Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash

An early morning car crash in South Ozone Park, Queens, left one woman dead and another on the run from the law after fleeing the scene

Gilda Lascano, 72, was killed when a Lexus blew through a red light and slammed into her Honda so hard that she was reportedly ejected from her vehicle and killed.

"The car the dead woman was thrown from was destroyed," witness Joel Rios told the New York Daily News. "You could only see the frame. The silver Lexus hit it hard and ended up in the middle of the road."

Lascano's son-in-law, Antonio Vargas, said Lascano was "a hard-working woman who was going to retire in a few months. Who runs from an accident when they see a person dying?"

Another witness who declined to give her name said, "The victim was hit so hard her shoes fell off. It was crazy. I knew she was gone. Her face was bleeding and everything."

Police are looking for the driver of the Lexus.
