New York Fashion Week Street Style Trends Predicted To Be Big

It’s New York Fashion Week, where designers will be showing off their collections for Spring/Summer 2020 and street style will be changing gears too. Aside from what’s on the runways, the looks people wear outside the fashion shows are a guide to what the season’s biggest trends will be. And according to these editors, fashion directors, buyers, and influencers, these are the street style trends that will be everywhere soon.

The new power pairing - Expect to see lots of polish and tailoring and the power pairing will be a blazer and shorts, according to Moda Operandi's Fashion and Buying Director Lisa Aiken.

Clogs - “Vogue” E-Commerce Editor Julie Tong says these chunky shoes are back this fall

Leather - Aiken also says real or faux, leather is “continuing to have a moment.”

Oversized dresses - Who What Wear Editor Allyson Payer predicts we’ll be seeing more of the oversized dresses that were everywhere at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Color and more color - Vivid shades like slime green and millennial purple have been trendy and “Teen Vogue” Fashion and Beauty Editor Michelle Li sees no sign of it slowing down. She says street style is “about to get a lot more colorful.”

Tonal dressing - Wearing several shades of the same color is the modern monochrome and Shopbop Fashion Director Caroline Maguire anticipates head-to-toe cognac will be taking over street style.

More bucket hats - The big trend with hats has been ‘90s-inspired bucket hats and they’re not going anywhere, according to Le Fashion's Jennifer Camp Forbes.
