Marijuana Won't Be Legalized in New York Anytime Soon

Governor Andrew Cuomo says he’s “no longer confident” that recreational marijuana will be legalized soon in New York State.

“I believe it's essential that marijuana is done, but I'm not confident that it will be done by the budget,” Governor Cuomo said.

The budget is due by April 1st and Governor Cuomo said too many obstacles remain to get it done in the couple of weeks left before that deadline.

"There is a wide divide on marijuana. I believe ultimately we can get there and we must get there. I don't believe we get there in two weeks and also, that's what the legislative leaders have said, right? And if they say, I don't think we can get there by the budget, that basically means they're not get going to get there by the budget, right?” Cuomo said.
