A winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to midnight on Tuesday, as a winter storm moves into the area.
New York City is expected to get between 3 and 5 inches of snow in a wintry mix from late Tuesday morning through the afternoon. Northwest New Jersey and Lower Hudson Valley will get higher totals.
It will be chilly with temperatures around 32 degrees all day Tuesday.
Wind will be a problem, as well, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
Forecasters are also warning of ice with about half an inch of rain expected on top of the snow.
It should all start melting by Wednesday, which will be partly cloudy with a high of 42 and a low of 30.
The rest of the week will be sunny and warmer with the exception of some rain possible Friday.
