Suspicious Packages Sent to CNN, Obama and Clintons

A series of suspicious packages have been sent to high profile individuals and organizations across the country.

The Time Warner Center in Midtown Manhattan was evacuated on Wednesday morning after receiving a suspicious piece of mail.  It was addressed to CNN and workers were told to leave the building without grabbing any personal belongings.

Nearby roads were closed to traffic because of a large emergency response.  The NYPD bomb squad is investigating.

New York City emergency officials told people in the immediate area to shelter in place.

This comes after “potentially explosive” devices were mailed to former President Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Authorities said the mail never reached their intended targets and they were never in danger.  Hillary Clinton was in Florida at the time.

"Every day, I am grateful to the women and men of the United States Secret Service. Thank you," Chelsea Clinton said.

The Secret Service said reports of a suspicious package sent to the White House are incorrect.

The White House issued a statement condemning what it called the “violent attacks.”

“These terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement said.
