Man Chops Off Arm of Pregnant Wife, NYPD Says

Yong Lu, 35, was charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon after he was arrested for allegedly chopping his pregnant wife's arm off during an argument.

The victim, Yang Li, was waiting for her 7-year-old son to get home from school Thursday afternoon inside the couple's Sunset Park home when her husband, Yong Lu, became enraged and allegedly started hacking body parts off his wife with a meat cleaver.

The vicious attack left the pregnant woman missing two fingers from her left hand and her entire right arm from the bicep down.

First responders found Li lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Li was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where doctors put her in a medically induced coma before reattaching her right arm in an 11-hour surgery.

After the incident, Lu allegedly fled the apartment and reportedly tried to get aboard a Canada-bound bus by offering the driver a bribe if he'd let him hide in the luggage compartment.

The New York Regional Fugitive Task Force and the NYPD tracked down and arrested Lu Saturday morning and took him into custody.

According to an article published in the NY Post, Yang Li is in critical but stable condition. There is no information on the health of the unborn child.
