Cynthia Nixon is challenging Governor Andrew Cuomo to a debate.
“So what’s it going to be Andrew? Just you and me on a stage?” Nixon asked in a video posted on Twitter.
She said New Yorkers deserve to hear “a frank and direct discussion” about the issues impacting them. Nixon said she was willing to put her progressive vision for New York up against Cuomo’s centrist record.
So, big news, WABC and their partners have offered to host a televised debate between myself and Governor Cuomo....and I accept their invitation. pic.twitter.com/yVlWeg3n7A— Cynthia Nixon (@CynthiaNixon) May 7, 2018
“No huge multi-candidate free-for-all like you always insist on. One-on-one. No distractions. Nowhere to hide. Your move,” Nixon said.
A spokesperson for Governor Cuomo issued a statement saying they were reviewing their “various opportunities.”
The Democratic primary is set for September 13th.
