Child Injured After Hit By Street Sign Near MSG

A 6-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being hit by a street sign near Madison Square Garden.

A strong wind gust on Wednesday afternoon caused a sign at 32nd Street and Seventh Avenue to come loose.  That sign fell and hit the boy who was visiting from Argentina, knocking him unconscious.

The child was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.  He’s listed in serious but stable condition.

"It's crazy.  The wind is crazy out there," one man told WOR's Alice Stockton Rossini.

Wind gusts as strong as 50 mph were reported.  That caused problems throughout the tri-state area.

"We were down by World Trade Observatory and there were just gusts of debris," a woman said.
