2 NJ Officers Save Family from Fire

Two police officers from Ocean Township, New Jersey are being credited with saving a family from a burning home.

Officers Arthur Barnek and Chris Clune were on patrol around 3:30 on Tuesday morning when they saw smoke coming from the building on Maidenstone Drive.  They immediately ran into the home and evacuated the family.

Barnek ran upstairs and rescued a small child from a crib.  Clune searched the first floor and found another family member asleep.

Wanamassa and Oakhurst fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.  An investigation shows it appears to have started in an exterior electrical light that was planted in the mulch.
