NY Woman Pleads Guilty in Kayaking Death

A 37-year-old woman has pleaded guilty in connection with the kayaking death of her fiancé in upstate New York.

Prosecutors said that Angelika Graswald removed a plug from her fiance’s boat in 2015, causing it to take on water and sink.  They alleged that she wanted the life insurance money of Vincent Viafore.

Graswald pleaded guilty to a charge of criminally negligent homicide.  She will be sentenced in November and with time served, Graswald could be released from prison later this year.

Graswald had been awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge.
