Mets Battle, but Fall Short in 10-6 Loss to Dodgers

Zack Wheeler struggled for his second straight start and the Mets fell to the Dodgers 10-6 in the opener of their 10-game road trip.

Wheeler was shelled allowing three home runs, two to Cody Bellinger, and a 2-run blast to Justin Turner. In total, Wheeler allowed seven runs on eight hits in just two innings. The Mets would try and fight back as they hit four home runs off Clayton Kershaw. Jose Reyes hit a pair including a 2-run shot in the seventh that cut the Dodger lead to 8-6. Gavin Cecchini hit the first home run in his big league career and Jay Bruce also homered for the Mets.

The Mets had a chance to tie the game in the top of the eighth, but Reyes struck out with bases loaded. They will send Robert Gsellman to the hill on Tuesday evening at 10:10 PM; Coverage on WOR at 6:05 pm with the 'WOR Sports Zone'.
