Judge Retires Amidst Medical Review

After calling out sick for the past 3 years, Judge Daniel J. McCullough has resigned his position.

The judge, who suffers from several medical problems including morbid obesity, intestinal bleeding, and herniated disks in his lower back had remained on the ‘active work' list even though he persistently failed to report to work.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct started an investigation after it was alleged that the judge stayed on the ‘active list' so he could continue to collect his $193,000 dollar a year salary.

Judge McCullough's attorney said the judge had hoped to come back to the bench but is still recovering from a 2016 surgical procedure.

Judge McCullough will retire with a pension that pays $143,000 per year.
