LISTEN: Walker Homers Twice, deGrom Strikes Out 10 in Mets 8-1 Rout

After losing two of three the lowly Padres the Mets got off to a great start on their mini-road trip to Pittsburgh as they defeated the Pirates 8-1.

Former Pirate Neil Walker had a big night homering twice and driving in four of the Mets eight runs, Lucas Duda drove in two with a 2-run double and Jay Bruce and Curtis Granderson each drove in runs.

Jacob deGrom was outstanding. He gave the Mets something Terry Collins has desperately needed of late, depth. deGrom tossed eight and a third striking out ten allowing just one run on six hits. The Mets will look for Zack Wheeler to replicate deGrom's performance on Saturday evening in the second game of this series. Coverage on WOR underway at 6:05 pm with Pete McCarthy & 'Mets on Deck'.
