NYC Doorman Dies in Freak Accident While Shoveling Snow

A 59-year-old doorman working on the Upper East Side died Thursday morning in what can only be described as a freak accident.

Miguel Gonzalez, of Connecticut, was clearing the steps down into an East 93rd Street building near 1st Avenue when he slipped and fell down the steps, crashing through a window, reports the New York Post.

Broken glass slit Gonzalez's throat, causing deep lacerations to his neck and face, according to NYPD.

Gonzalez was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:27 a.m., about an hour after the accident.
